Smule Chat Updates: New Rules and Guidelines
To enhance your experience on Smule, we’ve made important updates to our chat feature, especially for users who aren’t connected through a "follow" relationship. These updates aim to reduce spam, profanity, and inappropriate behavior. Below are some frequently asked questions (FAQs) to help you understand the new chat rules:
1. What are the new chat rules when there is no "follow" connection?
If User B does not follow User A:
- User A can send unlimited messages to User B, but User B will only receive the first message.
- This first message is limited to 100 characters or less.
- User B will not receive additional messages unless they reply to the first message or follow User A.
2. How can User B receive more messages from User A?
User B can receive more messages by:
- Replying to the first message, or
- Following User A.
Once User B takes either action, the chat will be open, allowing both users to message each other without limitations.
3. Will I see any signs in the chat that indicate message limits?
Currently, no visible signs in the chat indicate message limits. This means User A can send messages freely, but only the first message will go through to User B until they accept the chat request.
4. Why were these changes made?
We designed these updates to::
- Reduce spam: Limiting unsolicited messages helps prevent users from feeling overwhelmed by unwanted communication.
- Prevent inappropriate behavior: Restricting messaging helps reduce instances of profanity or harmful messages from strangers.
- Improve overall user safety: Encouraging users to follow each other or approve chat requests helps to create more meaningful interactions.
5. What happens if User B doesn’t respond or follow User A?
If User B chooses not to reply to the first message or follow User A, they won’t receive more messages from User A. The chat will remain restricted until User B takes action.
6. How can I protect myself from spam or unwanted messages?
You can protect yourself by:
- Ignoring messages from users you don’t know or follow.
- Blocking or reporting users who send inappropriate or unwanted messages.
7. Can I still chat with my friends as usual?
Absolutely! If both you and the other user follow each other, you can message as often as you’d like without any restrictions.
