Who can add a song to the Magic Piano Songbook?
Anyone with a Smule account can add a song to the Songbook. If you don't have one, you can sign up with www.smule.com or download any of our apps and register there.
How do I add a song to the Songbook?
First, you will need to download the Magic Piano app.
Launch the Magic Piano app, open the main menu, and select "Composer" to launch the Magic Piano Composer tool.
Set your song's title, artist, tempo, and beats per measure. You can also add tags that will make it easier for other players to discover your song. If you do not know what these should be yet, don't worry: you can always update these settings later. Tap on the "Get started" button to proceed.
Now start composing! You can add notes by tapping anywhere. As you move from left to right, notes go from low to high in pitch. As you move up on your screen, you move forward in time. You can add multiple notes per line.
Ready to publish? When you are done composing, tap the settings icon in the upper left corner. If you haven't updated your song details yet, now is the time! Otherwise, if you are ready, tap on the "Preview & Publish" option to publish your song.
Next, review your song. You can play it yourself or preview it to see how others will play it. If you like, you can adjust the spacing between notes. If you need to make changes to your song, tap the back button at top left. When you're all set, tap "Publish."
That's it! You can find your new song on your profile and in the My Songs and Community sections of the Songbook.
