How do I start a LiveJam?
In the Profile section, go to the LiveJam tab and tap the “Go Live” button. Or, at the top of your Feed, tap on your photo to start a LiveJam.
How do I find a LiveJam to join?
Just go to your Feed to find every LiveJam happening in your network. Or, tap Explore to find trending LiveJam sessions happening around the world. You can also view any user’s profile to see if they’re currently in a LiveJam.
Can I participate in a LiveJam?
Totally! Once you’ve joined a LiveJam, just request the mic. Or, start your own!
Do I need to start my own LiveJam to participate?
Nope. Just join any LiveJam already in progress and request the mic.
How do I get on the mic?
Tap the microphone icon at the bottom of the screen to show you’re available. Then wait for the mic to be passed to you.
What’s the difference between the lead and partner mics?
Not much. However, the person on the partner mic will hear a slight delay from the lead mic (i.e., the other person’s vocals). To help with this, whoever is on the partner mic should try singing to the music track instead of the other person’s vocals. This will help you stay in sync with the lead mic and create a better performance for your audience.
Who can see me while I’m on the mic?
Everyone in the LiveJam will be able to see you.
Is a LiveJam visible to everyone?
A LiveJam can be either visible or hidden. A visible LiveJam can be watched and joined by anyone in the world. A hidden LiveJam can only be watched or joined by people with an invite sent by someone already in the session.
Will Smule record my LiveJam?
While Smule does not record LiveJams, there are ways for participants to record their LiveJams if they would like to. After a song is sung, hosts have the option of saving a clip of their recording. These recordings can be deleted by the host or guest at any point from the profile page. Additionally, audience members can record their screen using standard iOS functionality.
Are LiveJam sessions moderated by an admin?
Yes. The person who starts a LiveJam (the owner) has admin powers. They can remove people from the mic and ban users from the session. Owners may also delegate this power to other users.
Does an admin need to be present at all times?
Yes. If there’s no admin, the LiveJam will automatically end. If a LiveJam owner needs to leave a session, they can keep it going by granting admin power to other users before leaving.
What can I do if someone is being abusive in a LiveJam?
If someone is breaking the Smule Community Guidelines, you can (and should) report them. To report a user, tap their image in the chat section of the LiveJam, tap the menu icon at the top right of the pop-up, and tap to report them. To report an entire LiveJam, go to the Info Screen for the LiveJam (swipe right from the main screen).
Do I need to be a VIP to participate in a LiveJam?
Nope! Anyone can start or join a LiveJam. However, VIPs can access any song or filter while free users can only access free content.
